Special features

Prescriptions & drugs
UnitedHealthcare covers both generic and brand name drugs. Their drug list (also called a “formulary”) separates out drugs into three or four price tiers, depending on your plan. Generally, generic drugs on the lowest priced tier, though this is not always the case – UnitedHealthcare makes a point to monitor the prices of high cost generics to make sure they’re the best value.

Enrollment process
You can browse all plans on UnitedHealthcare website, and sort and filter those plans based on your preferences and budget.
Once you’ve selected a health insurance plan, enrolling in that plan is easy. You fill out a short online form, then complete the final step with a quick enrollment phone call with a licensed agent. On that call, the licensed agent will verify your identity, double-check eligibility and answer any questions you may have.
After you enroll in a health insurance plan, you will get your membership materials (including your member ID card) and the first premium bill directly from the health insurance company. You are responsible for paying the bill to ensure that your coverage goes into effect, and to keep current on those payments.
Claims process
Most of the time, your health services provider should submit your claim to UnitedHealthcare for you. If they don’t, or you visited a non-affiliated provider, you can submit a claim to UnitedHealthcare directly. Print out this form and send it, along with a detailed claim of services from your provider, to the address on the back of your health insurance card.

UnitedHealthcare review
As a 50-state national health insurance company, UnitedHealthcare (UHC) offers a variety of plans and a broad network of providers. Generally, UHC plans are among the more expensive offerings at a given benefit level, although affordable options are also available. UnitedHealthcare plans don’t rank as highly as other carriers (like Kaiser) in terms of customer satisfaction scores, but in many markets their plans are among the best in terms of network.
