Our home insurance company ratings methodology

We don’t get paid for our company reviews and use a weighted rubric to determine each company’s rating based on four key areas: price, customer experience, coverage options, and financial strength.

Our unbiased research includes analyzing average home insurance premiums in 2022 from Quadrant Information Services; financial strength ratings from AM Best, Moody’s, and S&P; J.D. Power customer experience surveys; the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Complaint Index Report; and discount and coverage options listed on each insurer’s website.

As an insurance marketplace, some of the companies listed above are Policygenius partners who offer coverage through our licensed agents. However, this does not influence how we rate these companies, and you’ll see a disclaimer on any reviews for our partner carriers.
